Program Responsibility
Oregon Law
Oregon law, under Oregon Revised Statute 401.305, declares that, “Each county of this state shall, and each city or tribal government may, establish an emergency management agency that is directly responsible to the executive officer or governing body of the county, city or tribe."
“The executive officer or governing body of each county, and any city or tribe that participates shall appoint an emergency program manager who is responsible for the organization, administration and operation of the emergency management agency, subject to the direction and control of the county, city or tribe.”
Leadership
Emergency Management Director
In Grant County, the overall responsibility of the Emergency Management program rests with the Grant County Court Judge as the Emergency Management Director to lead the County in matters of emergency preparedness and disaster response.
Emergency Management Coordinator
The responsibility for the day to day operations of the Emergency Management program has been delegated to an Emergency Management Coordinator. However, during declared emergencies the Emergency Management Coordinator reports to the Grant County Court Judge and Board of Commissioners.
Board of Commissioners
The County Emergency Management Coordinator regularly reports to the Board of Commissioners and County Court Judge on program activities throughout the year.
